Happy New Year!

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.~John 16:33

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me ~ eight maids-a-milking!
What a lovely way to remember the eight beatitudes from Matthew 5:3-12:

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted
.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall possess the earth
.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they shall be satisfied
.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy
.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God
.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God
.

Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
.

The Milkmaid by Jan Vermeer (c. 1600)

Beatitudo is Latin for happiness. I wish you happiness and blessedness, even in times of tribulation, in the New Year and always!

When I am in yoga class, that position is sooo unispiring. In fact, I get downright annoyed when anyone pushes us to try it. It's uncomfortable and doesn't stretch anything.

And yet, there is is completely beautiful and inspring.

If families have bible passages as anthems, the Beatitudes was the family anthem of my childhood.

Thanks Bonnie, for this post. I am indeed unusually worried that 2007 will be a year of tribulation. This has only happened a few times to me, and if I remember correctly, all turned out well.

What??!!! You side with those sushi-chewing, latte-sipping Trojan fans over your second favorite Michigan university? You traitor-to-your-state you. Vicki needs to work some magic your way. You're in denial or something.

Oh, yeah. Happy New Year. Very nice pictures as always. And I hope you and your's have a great 2007 (except in sports).

There is something to be said for contentment in the face of adversity. Sometimes our happiness is not as the world expects but rather in the hope of heaven. Have a blessed year!

The pictures are lovely, as ever and just the right size! ;)

You and Maragret are coming together? Be still my heart! She is indeed coming in March so don't tease me if you're not serious. You must have a child that lives in this state or some good reason to come. Airfares are very low right now.

Indeed He did overcome the world ! John 3:16 says it all for me !

OK Bonnie. I have found a pattern here. You posted on Christmas and then on New Years.... so it must be the holiday thing.

Well! Monday the 15th is a holiday.... so another post? It is Martin Luther King day and if that isn't enough.. it is my birthday.. or rather my anniversary of my birthday... so a beautiful picture, and some culture, please?!

Just something here so I can come and feast my eyes and sooth the soul....

(This is additional groveling)

I love your comments on everyone's blogs. You are such a poet. If you come to Florida with Margaret in March, tell Vicki to invite me so I can meet you.
